Mrs. Bergstrom's Mandalas Project: Geometry and Meditation

Mrs. Bergstrom's lesson began with a discussion on the techniques and tools used for creating geometric constructions. After this, students produced their own unique designs using a compass and a straight edge. The compass is an adjustable device used for drawing arcs and circles and measuring distances. A straight edge is basically an unmarked ruler used simply for drawing lines.

Mandala designs are meant to aid meditation and increase mindfulness by removing irritating thoughts, freeing the creative mind, and promoting relaxation. Listening to meditation music during the class helped encourage creativity and rid any negative energy.
