Staten Island Technical High School’s newly renovated library is home to over 12,900 books, videos, and materials. In addition, from desktops to laptops and a television wall with a computer for presentations and lessons, the library can support students’ academics and a variety of activities within the school. In the true nature of an atheneum, the library hosts 3 different classes daily (Yearbook/Journalism, Sophomore SERP, and Senior Public Speaking). Additionally, the library is the home to two after school clubs: The Tech Science Times Online Magazine and the Nook Book Club. It is also the hosting area for guest speakers and special events. The library also provides a comprehensive website for access to a wealth of materials within school and remote access for home. In an average week, approximately 1500 students pass through the library for a place to work individually or as a group, attend an event, participate in classes, print and go, or just to relax and read. There is something for everyone, and we hope that you visit and enjoy the library too!
Student Quotes:
The library at Tech is an intersection where students of all grades can find helpful resources! As a current library assistant, I help to maintain the library's organization and assist students in finding what they need. It's amazing to see so many people come together in one place, working to help each other. Whether it's sophomore or freshmen SERP, clubs, and or school sessions, the library serves as a refuge for students amidst hectic schedules, as it will continue to do for the coming freshmen class!
- Jenna John, SERP 21
The library is a great place to go whether you want to print out something for a class, borrow a book, get some homework done, or just destress. All Tech students are welcome there, and it can be extremely useful when you have a free period before an extracurricular activity. Thank you to the librarian, Mrs. Cavaliere, for providing assistance whenever you need it!
