WHO: Open to 9th - 12th graders
Previous climate experience is not required. No geographic limitations; open to US-based and international students whose schedules are compatible with the internship hours. Intern cohort = 25 students
WHAT: A 3-month, volunteer, internship
Interns will explore climate communications, social justice, advocacy tools, and climate arts, mentored throughout by museum staff and teaching artists. Gain the skills and confidence necessary for climate engagement through a mix of interactive online time + independent, offline projects. Interns will follow an arts or advocacy track, contribute to museum educational resources, and have the option to join an online performance/ exhibition.
WHEN: Tuesdays from 4 to 6 p.m. EST + independent time to complete projects
February 23 to May 18, 2021 (no session March 30)
WHERE: Online sessions on Zoom
WHY: Most people in the US are worried about the climate crisis, but stay silent and inactive. This internship is designed for teens who want to join the growing number of their peers who are speaking up on climate, advocating for a more climate-safe future, and inspiring others to join in collective action.
