Angelo Del Toro Puerto Rican Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute

The civic engagement program offers many opportunities for students to meet Latinx professionals and develop leadership and public speaking skills, in addition to uplifting cultural pride. The nationally acclaimed Saturday program is taught by NYC licensed teachers and approved by the New York State Department of Education to provide points towards the Seal of Biliteracy.What we offer:  *   A free weekend trip to Albany for Juniors and Seniors only  *   A free trip to Washington for two elected 11th grade OUTSTANDING DELEGATES  *   College Credit for 10th graders.  *   A free trip to November 2023 SOMOS conference in Puerto Rico to one 12th grade OUTSTANDING DELEGATE  *   Points towards the Seal of Biliteracy  *   College Trips and workshops  *   Free breakfast and lunch  *   MetroCards to and from the High School for Law and Public Service in Manhattan  *   Leadership opportunities and much more
 
The purpose of Angelo Del Toro Puerto Rican/Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute (PR/HLI) includes the following;
  • Providing various opportunities and resources for goal affirmation.
  • Empowering Latino students in civic engagement, cultural pride, unpacking racial biases, self-advocacy and social justice.
  • Increasing the Latino voice in the Legislative process. 
The program will meet on the following Saturdays:

January 7, 28
February 18
March 4
March 11-12 (for selected Juniors and Seniors)
