The Future Is In Your Hands
Students in the Career Essentials program attend one orientation and 10 weekly workshops, each lasting 1 hour and 45 minutes. Participants in the program learn how to professionally interview, present information to a group, behave in a professional environment, manage their time, and create an effective resume. Students will also participate in a career exploration field trip that gives them a chance to learn about different industries and network with professionals who are willing to share career advice and insights from their own lives. Career Essentials affords students an opportunity to learn and form relationships with other students from all five boroughs, and to create connections with driven, and motivated peers. Students will receive a small stipend upon successfully completing the program.
Accepted students will attend the program from 4:30 to 6:15 pm one day per week (students may choose a day Mon-Thurs), this fall from February to May. The program is open to all high school students who reside and attend school in New York City, but we consider it especially appropriate for underclassmen to prepare them for future internship opportunities.Once students have submitted their application, they will receive an email with additional instructions on how to complete the enrollment process.
Students who are selected to participate in the program must attend an orientation on February 13 or 14. Career Essentials begins the week of February 26 and takes place once a week for 10 weeks. Workshops take place at the Futures and Options classroom in Manhattan at 111 Broadway.Click here to apply:
