URBAN ARTS - Spring Break FREE Game Design Lab

Lunch and materials will be provided, as well as & 2-way Metrocards for students who don't have OMNY cards.

At the lab, you will: 
  • learn about game design theory (what makes a game fun), come up with your own game ideas 
  • remix a 2D platformer game with your own art, music, and characters
  • get hands-on with industry game development tools, including Unity3D
No prior experience required! 
When & where is the Game Design Lab?
๐Ÿ—“๏ธ Tuesday-Thursday, April 15-17, from 10am-4pm

๐Ÿ“Urban Arts, 39 W. 19th Street b/t 5th & 6th Ave. Close to these trains: 
  • 4, 5, 6, L, N, R, W and Q @ Union Square
  • F, M, 1, 2, L trains @ 14th street & 6th Ave 
  • A, C, E trains @ 14th street & 8th Ave
Who can apply? 
  • NYC high school students*
  • Must be 9th, 10th or 11th grade
  • This is an introductory program for students who are new to game design
  • Must be able to travel to Urban Arts' space on W. 19th Street (Metrocards will be provided to any student who doesn't have an OMNY card). 
*We especially encourage applications from students of color, girls and gender-nonconforming youth, students with disabilities, and students attending Title-1 schools.

When will I find out if I got in? 

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until all spaces are full. We will notify you within a week of receiving your application to let you know whether you have been accepted or waitlisted.
