Last year, a tech student, Gabby Garcia, won first place in the Young Entrepreneurs Academy’s 10th Annual Saunders Scholars National Competition with her invention called the Stench Sniper, an insert to deodorize and sanitize her smelly, sweaty hockey gloves. Read all about her victory here!

This year, one of our brilliant seniors, Merrick Eng, participated and placed third in the Young Entrepreneurs Academy’s 10th Annual Saunders Scholars National Competition with his own original business idea- the Eco Tip, an environmentally-friendly bag for culinary purposes allowing cake decorators to remove the tip from the outside of the bag.

Two Staten Island Tech students- Hana Kassem and Sadhana Pakala- collaborated to redecorate an office space into a “Lollipop World” using only recycled materials, such as FedEx boxes, old fabric samples, lighting finishes, and Sherwin Williams paint chips. They raised money with this creative project for the American Cancer Society to help aid research and assistance for those suffering from cancer. Read about their philanthropic work here!
