As part of our TV film studio program, Mr. Van Buren and Dr. Jax have begun aerial footage of events at Staten Island Tech. We are hoping to regularly post footages from the drone at future outdoor events.

Mr. Frazzetto and Ms. Fusaro teamed up to give their class the opportunity to recreate a 3D diorama of novels they were reading in class. The diorama featured in this picture is a recreation of the novel Lord of the Flies from Mr. Frazzetto's sophomore English Class.

Mr. Colangelo's Applied Physics class participated in a catapult construction project with the goal of hitting a target with a set distance away from the catapult. Students have to adjust or account for the angle of launch, projectile motion, and clear a wall.

Students who are looking for a way to show off their artistic abilities should consider a Makerspace project. Artwork not connected to classes gives students the freedom of expression, and the Makerspace can provide supplies to show off student creativity.

This past year, students from our forensic science classes worked in teams of sixteen to create scale crime scene models, called Nutshells. Led by Mrs. Bianca Brandon, students began by researching real cases to use as inspiration for their models. Students then created a synopsis of their scenarios in the form of a case study, which other groups were tasked with solving. Certain team members were in charge of drafting a 3D drawing of the models using AutoCAD and Revit. Students then went down to the MakerSpace during classes to construct their crime scenes, using a scale of 1” to 1’. This allowed students to use the skills they learned in class and practice applying them to authentic crime scenes.
