Mrs. Jennifer Toner

Mrs. Toner is a Science Teacher here at Staten Island Tech who enjoys teaching Living Environment and AP Environmental Studies.  She enjoys labs, hands on activities, and large class discussions on current topics aligned with the course.  Her favorite topics include the human body and human population growth. Outside of the school day, she advises students on the Science Olympiad Team and Envirothon.  She has helped beautify the school with The Daffodil project and is working with students towards making Staten Island Tech more sustainable.  Mrs. Toner also manages Testing here at Staten Island Tech, including AP Exams, Regents, and more. 

Mrs. Toner is actively engaged in exploring and being up to date in science and pedagogy through her fellowship with Math for America.  Here she has explored many classes and sessions with other fellows and scientists, including lectures on carbon sequestration in mangroves, maintaining oyster populations in aquariums with the Billion Oyster Project, building aquaponic systems for classrooms, and isolating DNA from foods to determine if they contain GMOs.  She also takes some other fun courses including knitting and mathematics, yogurt making, and learning about March Mammal Madness - so fun!  She enjoys sharing what she learns with her students and her own three children, Ellie, Fiona, and Tadhg.
