Special Opportunities

The DOE CTE Office in collaboration with partners at CUNY: Bronx Community College (BCC) will be doing a virtual info session on BCC's Automotive programs on Fri, Jan 15 @ 10AM-Noon via Zoom. All high school students, regardless of their current CTE track, with any interest in automotive technology are invited to attend. We especially encourage seniors who are considering their college options. We will be featuring speakers from BMW, Nissan, Toyota, as well as DCAS and MTA: NYC Transit. We will have an interactive Q & A where students may ask questions. Whether you open to pursuing a field different from their current CTE track, or you are interested in automotive careers, this may be helpful.

The DCAS and various City agencies will be hosting a virtual info session for youth on Tue, Dec 22 @ 3PM-4:30PM regarding career pathways within NYC government agencies. See attachment. Registration is required.

NYC Youth Leadership Councils (YLCs) are the place to make real change happen in your school, neighborhood, or community. Students ages 14-21 currently enrolled in high school or an equivalency program can join a YLC to partner with peer leaders and adult allies and take action on the issues that matter to you most. Joint Employment Development Initiative “JEDI” Academy SITHS/UAU CDC CTE Program Sector Focus “SF” Paid Internship Program will be returning this year!!

Once again, the Staten Island Technical High School (SITHS) Career Development Center (CDC) is partnering with United Activities Unlimited (UAU) to offer a meaningful career development and summer internship program! IMPORTANT! This program is separate from The Work Learn Grow Internship that you learned about last week. You can apply to both of the programs. The JEDI Program is for students 16 or older by 7/1/21.
